Description

There were some other words up here...but now I've come across better...so here goes... I have this idea, we are all puppets. There is a world, parallel to this and directly effected by ours. The only inhabitants of this world are puppets, each one an avatar of someone in this world. There are a lot of puppets. The world the puppets live is is very dark, cold and forbidding. There are no limits to this world, it stretches on forever, the sky is marred by an impenetrable layer of cloud, the ground is an endless expance of black granite . Every Puppet is kept from falling to this floor by the strings attached to them. Everything we do in this world determines the strength of the strings in the puppet world. The more money we have, the stronger the strings, the bigger the car, the bigger the house, the bigger the paycheck, the bigger the breasts, the bigger the cock, the stronger the strings. Now, while this might sound all fine and dandy from the outset, the problem with stronger strings is that they are more rigid, more stifling. In the end, you will not be able to move at all, you will die and you fall to the cold, hard granite floor and become on of the billions of skeleton puppets. You'll be like all the others and have exactly what they have - nothing. This is where my hero comes in. He has somehow come across the means to break his own strings, to break the cycle. In the image he is poised in a final contemplation before making the plunge toward the skeleton puppets. Now of course, in our world, his life is starting to head down a path of self destruction. My hero is a hero, not because he is cutting his strings, but because he realises what he is doing and how he could stop it, but does not. He knows that the fall will probably kill him. But, he doesn't know this for sure and he's willing to find out. this is an image of a tragic hero, escaping the downward spiral of a society locked in the harsh embrace of consumerism
